The party accepted a job to investigate the murder of Lord Hawthorne Grimcests brother Horace. Horace’s body had been found in the Dock Wards of Waterdeep with a brand on his body which the party later discovered said in Infernal “Asmodeus Lives”.
The parties first step was the talk to the crime boss of the Dock Ward a Beholder named Xanathar. Xanathar an extremely paranoid figure with the crime boss fearing for this life after a deal gone bad with the Blackwing Assassins.
Xanathar is willing to give the party the information he has on Horace but requests that the party pick up a package for Slygar his pet goldfish and deliver a letter to the goblins holding the package first.
The party makes their way to the Drunken Pixie, and quickly finds the group of Goblins. After reading the letter sent from Xanathar a Goblin takes the barkeep Helena Gale hostage and begins to threaten the party.
Once the party was finished with the group of Goblins they return the package of fish food to Xanathar, he keeps his end of the bargain and tells the group that he sold Horace the location of a hidden entrance into the City of the Dead.
The party heads towards City of the Dead but not before seeing a kidnaping in progress, two cloaked figures carrying a young man down in alley. The party gives chase and follows them to a butcher shop that has been converted into an altar for Asmodeus.
The party tries to stop the ritual before it is complete but not before a Bulezau Fiend with many weapons impaled into itself comes out of the portal. Once the battle has finished, they decide to make their way back to the Grimcrest manor to rest before heading into the City of the Dead.
As the party enters the manor the wand of secrets, they found of the bodies of the cultist in the butcher shop starts to shack and vibrate.
