As the party makes their way through the Abbey, they come upon a small, abandoned section that appears to have once served as a hospital. While exploring, Luciel begins to pray to Toedd, unintentionally provoking the spirit guarding the bodies. A fierce battle ensues as Wraiths emerge and attack.
During the fight, a Duergar Dwarf—an unusual Monk-Druid hybrid—joins the fray, aiding the party. After the dust settles, the dwarf chooses to accompany the group. They soon learn that in another part of the Abbey, the remaining members of the werewolf pack have escaped.
Leaving the town of Krezk behind, the party travels toward Vallaki to meet with Dmitri Krezkov, the former Burgomaster of Krezk, and Ezmerelda d’Avenir. Along the road, they arrive at a crossroads marked by a gallows—where, to their horror, they find Dmitri Krezkov hanging.
Before they can react, they are ambushed by the last remnants of the Children of Mother Night.
Kordyc Background
Kordyc was born in the depths of the Underdark, in a Duergar stronghold where cruelty was law and obedience was survival. Trained as a monk, he learned to master his body and suppress his emotions—but he always felt out of place among his cold-blooded kin.
Something changed when he began hearing strange whispers in the stone—soft voices calling him upward. He followed them, escaping to the surface. There, in the wild forests and forgotten places of the world, he found peace among the natural spirits. The land spoke to him in a language deeper than words. He took on the ways of the druid, combining discipline with nature’s strength. They call him Kordyc now.
When the Mists of Barovia claimed him, he didn’t resist. This cursed land reminds him of home—twisted, wounded, and crying out for balance. He doesn’t speak much, but his purpose is clear: heal what can be healed, and destroy what festers beyond saving.
He’s not here to be a hero. He’s here to make things right.
