On the eve of the party’s departure to investigate the rumors surrounding the Marshals of Dread, Luciel was jolted awake by the sound of breaking glass. Looking up, he caught sight of a massive werewolf leaping from the second-story window of the inn.
The rest of the party rushed into the room after hearing the commotion. Realizing the beast was Kordyc, now consumed by the primal fury of his first transformation, Kain immediately gave chase. In a desperate attempt to stop him without causing harm, Sono cast a spell that transformed the rampaging werewolf into a small rat.
Fearing that the townsfolk of Vallaki would soon discover the escaped werewolf and begin a hunt, the party wasted no time leaving the village. As they traveled south, Kordyc gradually overcame the uncontrollable instincts of his first transformation and gained command of his newfound lycanthropic powers.
Further along the road, the adventurers discovered an abandoned Vistani camp. While Kordyc searched the area for tracks that might reveal where the Vistani had gone, the party spotted a strange procession emerging from the woods. The followers appeared to be devoted to Toedd the Great Lion and were making their way deeper into the forest.
Suspicious of the gathering, the party followed the procession. Kain’s divine senses soon detected a powerful aura of evil surrounding the group. The trail led to an isolated chapel hidden among the trees, where the procession’s leader was delivering a sermon recounting the supposed miracles and glorious deeds of Toedd.
Convinced that the chapel had become a place of corruption, Kain declared it must be cleansed. Without hesitation, the party stormed the sanctuary, launching a fierce assault against a congregation of vampires, demons, and fanatical cultists gathered in worship.
