The remaining party members make their way to the Clanghammer Rest and Fredrick and the rest of the Wererat crew take the airship named Green Envy and head back to Xanathar. While at the Tavern the party meets and recruits a male Half Orc and a female Human, a husband and wife mercenary duo named Oluth and Leylwyn.
The party gains new information about the Masked Lords of Waterdeep’s vault from the Taverns owner an elderly man name Clanghammer. He explains that the vault is guarded by an Adult Gold Dragon named Hendrae.
After a nights rest the party heads back to Waterdeep and rendezvous with Xanathar after which they give a progress report to Lord Grimcrest about the status of their investigation. Lord Grimcrest gives the group a letter of introduction in order to meet with Lord Greycastle a former business partner of his.
The group makes their way to Lord Greycastle home and is greeted by Skeleton servants. The servants explain that Lord Grimcrest is not available but Lady Arronal and Flagg are. The party is lead to Flagg’s chambers and encounter Flagg guarded by a Bearded Devil in the process of summoning Asmodeus.
The group interrogate Flagg after defeating the Bearded Devil, and learn that Lord Greycastle was killed by Lady Arronal and the he killed Lord Grimcrests brother Horace. The party goes through the portal in the chamber that leads them to the entrance of the Masked Lords vault.
Through the portal the party finds Lady Arronal at the entrance of the vault before they are able to do anything they are interpreted by Clanghammer the old man from the tavern. The party is able to hear a commotion on the surface and Clanghammer explains that he must go to the surface and deal with what sounds like Asmodeus attacking the city and transforms into the Gold Dragon Hendrae, leaving the party to deal with Lady Arronal on their own.
